Cartier Tank Bec d'Aigle in 18k yellow gold, powered by a manual winding Edmond Jaeger movement and housed in an Edmond Jaeger case. Produced in the 1950s, the Tank Bec d'Aigle is among the most architecturally extraordinary and historically significant of all vintage Cartier tank variations, its dramatically swept eagle's beak lugs creating a case silhouette of such sculptural ambition and refinement that examples in any condition are virtually never encountered on the open market. The collaboration with Edmond Jaeger, one of the most distinguished movement and case makers of the era, places this piece at the very apex of mid century French watchmaking.
The dial is in exceptional condition, clean and beautifully preserved throughout, retaining all the crispness and clarity of its original printing and surface. The flat crown adds a further period detail entirely consistent with the finest Cartier production of the 1950s. Fitted on a leather strap with the correct original Cartier yellow gold folding clasp.
