Andersen Genève Jour et Nuit reference 573 in 18k white gold, measuring 43mm and powered by a manual winding movement adapted and reworked by Svend Andersen himself to incorporate a jumping hour with day and night display. Produced in 2002 as part of the regular production series, this is one of Svend Andersen's most celebrated and historically significant creations, a piece that traces its origins back to a unique commission in 1995 and subsequently inspired the Cartier Pasha Jour et Nuit before finding its definitive form within Andersen's own manufacture.
The deep black dial with barleycorn guilloché base features a 24 hour arc across the upper portion, dividing day and night across two opposing scales with black Breguet numerals on a brushed gold background. Two hands travel across the dial at opposing ends, one bearing a sun motif and one a crescent moon, mimicking the celestial bodies in motion. Three symmetrically placed cartouches identify the piece, and a seconds sub-dial sits at six o'clock. The sapphire caseback reveals the beautifully finished movement with perlage on the baseplate, Côtes de Genève on the bridges and sharply bevelled edges throughout. Accompanied by the complete original set.
